I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, I'm new 'round these parts, but having bought a Hive last week - and my wife deciding she didn't want it on the living room wall - I was a bit disappointed to find it wouldn't stand up by itself - the catch to release the back plate getting in the way.

So, a bit of rummaging around the internet found this on Amazon...

An M4 x 16mm bolt with a nut and washer to fix the backplate to the stand, and I now have a stand for a fiver!

Excellent find. I think it looks better than the official one too.

Hi
Just got mine today. Backplate fixed to wall where old stat was, but removing from backplate and taking it into front room is OK as the catch you mention is part of the backplate and stays on the wall. The only thing I notice is that there is a set of vent holes on the bottom of the unit which seems to suggest that it might not be happy standing upright as those holes would be blocked(there is another set of holes on one side too though)
