The Nest system has been available in the US (and Canada) for a few years and does what the Hive does plus a bit more (eg the predictive learning of how long it takes to get up to temperature mentioned in another post). Unfortunately, I don't think it is compatible with UK heating or electrical systems.

Has anyone tried to use Nest in the UK? Have the Hive developers tried out the Nest system?

I have read an article just today suggesting a UK release of nest is imminent. Possibly this month.
